The 9PSAVs – Commitment

By April 30, 2021No Comments

“Motivation is what gets you started. Commitment is what keeps you going.”

-Jim Rohn

Commitment is a really important feature of every high-performance PSA Rugby Academies programme. That commitment starts a long time before your young player ever steps on to the pitch, with our management team’s tireless recruitment and training of the best available coaching talent. We want coaches, staff AND players who show exceptional commitment to getting the most from every Academy programme that we deliver.

We spend a huge amount of time meticulously planning our programmes, from rugby sessions to group activities, online sports performance webinar talks to the PSAVs end of camp awards. Our commitment to you is rewarded by a consistently excellent level of player behaviour and positive team culture that usually develops on our programmes.

When it comes to the day-to-day delivery, our coaches will always have a plan of attack for the day’s schedule, carefully monitoring the energy, enthusiasm and effort of our players to ensure that the activities planned are bringing out the best in each player. In Tignes particularly, the impact of altitude-based training can take a few days to acclimatise to and with each player doing less sport during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 programme will challenge players yet further. As part of our leadership development, we actively encourage players to manage their daily targets, performance and reviews proactively via our daily mentoring sessions with coaching staff.  Commitment is hugely important but as a team, we need to be sure that such commitment is being used in the right areas at the right times and to the correct intensity levels.

Our commitment is total, and that of our players counts just as much. This value is fundamental and is linked to all the others – check out the rest of our 9PSAVs on our blog here.  PSA Academies expects each individual player to be respectful of his teammates and coaches, to take responsibility and commit to communicating with everyone, to train hard, and to stay focused.

All that we can ask is that the players, individually and collectively, really capitalise on the unique opportunity that their parents and families have given them by giving it their consistent best, listening and learning, not just from the coaches and staff, but from each other.

Thanks to our high-performancr programmes, the players will be able to live together, make new friends but also share cultural differences. Indeed, many players from Europe and beyond will be part of our PSA Rugby Academy Tignes programme and this cultural richness often helps to drive that extra few percent of commitment that makes the experience truly special.

Commitment is a key value wherever you see PSA Rugby Academies go….
