Rugby & English Language (Ireland)

Taking place in the surrounds of two top rugby and education venues  Cistercian College in Co. Tipperary and Midleton College in Co. Cork, our Rugby and English Language programme incorporates the PSA Rugby Academies in Roscrea and Cork in July 2020, offering international players the unique opportunity of training with top young players from two of the world’s most famous rugby areas, Leinster and Munster, while also developing their English language skills in a formal class and informal rugby programme setting.

We believe that our high performance programme combining rugby development with top professional coaches, social/culture immersion with local Irish rugby players, alongside structured English language tuition, provides the best language-learning experience in the market.  By booking this unique programme, you will be ensuring that your young player enjoys unrivaled opportunities to learn across the four key communication elements of listening, readingspeaking and writing all in an engaging, social, safe and fun environment.

Ambitious players will be introduced to our key coaching principles, focusing on the assessment and development of key core skills around passing, rucking, tackling and game management.  With the use of leading sports tech, the top coaching team will develop a player-specific report sent to players and parents post-camp to help with ongoing development. But at PSA Academies, there is a focus on the wider development of the person through our varied programme content that covers introductions to key sports science areas, mental wellness principles and fun but challenging C.A.R.D.S. (Creativity, Awareness, Resilience, Decision Making & Self-Organisation) based group activities.

English Language Tuition

Levels: A2 – B2 on CEFR Pathway Table We recommend attending this camp after you have studied English for approximately two years. Following an initial placement test, our English teachers will place all learners into classes dependent on their test results, this camp offers Elementary (A2), Intermediate (B1) and Advanced (B2) courses in English. As a teenage summer camp, we provide engaging English courses with interesting topics and focal points to keep the course vibrant and different to traditional school lessons. We understand that improving language skills comes from engaging students with interesting debates and teaching methods. At the end of the 2-week course, learners will complete an examination for the level they have been learning at. We will then receive a certificate from Anglia Examinations, which confirms your English level in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference. Classroom learning time per week is 15 hours and our class sizes are small with a maximum of 20 students per teacher.

Pastoral Care & Supervision

Our fully vetted and professional trained programme staff are responsible for the pastoral care of all those players in our care and ensure that everyone is sleeping & eating well, joining in all activities, making friends and having a great time. As well as ensuring the daily wellbeing of the overall group, our staff get assigned a group of players that they mentor, delivering twice daily “Markers” meeting, where they get to develop a rapport with each individual and can speak about how they feel physically & emotionally, what their daily goals are and how they fell the programme activities have gone. During free time, our players are able to relax in specified areas of the Cistercian College & Midleton College campuses with their new friends, whilst being supervised by our staff.  We operate a restricted Mobile Phone Policy, with players only getting access for 1 hour in the mornings and 2 hours in the evenings, when they will be expected to contact their parents.
